Spreading Christmas Cheer at Compass Cove Is a Snap (or 5) With Our Holiday Hunt

While comfortable temperatures and white-sand beaches don’t always jump to mind when most of us think of the holidays, they both await on the Grand Strand for those dreaming of an escape from the cold and snow. The Myrtle Beach area offers a great and easy-to-access way to get a break from the winter weather – and without missing out on any holiday cheer. When you visit, you won’t need to pack the heavy winter coat or the snow shovel. Just bring a few light sweaters – and maybe even sandals and shorts – and make Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort and the Myrtle Beach oceanfront your home for the holidays.

With our wide range of accommodations and our wealth of amenities, Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort can make your family’s holiday vacation a memorable one. And while you’re here, you can break out your smartphone to join in our special Holiday Hunt. Check out some of the Grand Strand’s fun seasonal festivities, capture some special moments with your phone’s camera, and share them with us on Instagram and Facebook. When you post your photos, be sure and tag ‪@CompassCoveMB on Instagram and @CompassCoveResort on Facebook, and use the hashtag #CompassCoveHolidayHunt  to spread some Grand Strand holiday cheer.

Pic 1 – Holiday Message: To get your Holiday Hunt rolling, head to the beach and write a giant holiday message in the sand – maybe something like “Merry Christmas from the Morgan family!” Use your creativity, and be sure to make your holiday message big enough for Santa to see from high in the sky as he flies over in his sleigh. Once your merry masterpiece is complete, post a photo of it on the ’Gram, then tag/hashtag it appropriately.

Pic 2 – Photo With Santa: Up next on your to-do list for the Holiday Hunt – a photo with Santa Claus. Before making his overnight journey around the world, he’ll be soaking in the relaxed atmosphere of the Myrtle Beach area. So, you’ll have a few photo ops within easy reach during your stay at Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort. The boss elf himself will be making several appearances through December 31st at Santa’s Village at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex, and at many other locations around town.

Pic 3 – Holiday Lights: As Christmas begins to get close, the Grand Strand is transformed into a (subtropical) winter wonderland with lots of festive decorations. Head over to one of the Myrtle Beach area’s holiday displays or winter festivals, and take a photo with your favorite holiday lights. One great place to check this one off the list can be found at Brookgreen Gardens, where the Nights of a Thousand Candles tradition features more than 5,000 hand-lit candles, plus support from countless strands of twinkling lights. The event runs through December 17th. Or, you could make your way through the dazzling Great Christmas Light Show, located an easy drive away from Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex. The experience, boasting more than 500 magical light displays (some up to 55 feet tall) and a section of lights synchronized with holiday music, is guaranteed to boost your holiday spirit. You can take it all in through December 31st.

Pic 4 – Holiday Ornament: While you’re checking out all the Christmas lights, it’s a safe bet you’ll find a well-adorned Christmas tree nearby. Pick out an especially eye-catching ornament on the tree, then take a photo of it. Take care not to knock it off its perch – just get close enough to snap the perfect Holiday Hunt photo.

Pic 5 – Family Greeting Card: The last item on the Holiday Hunt list is the most special. We’d like to encourage you to take a family photo that’s worthy of your holiday greeting card. You could pose on the beach just before sunset, gather in front of a favorite Grand Strand landmark, or find a backdrop that’s meaningful to your family – the choice is yours! Wherever you snap this family photo, years from now, you’ll look at it and remember all the great times you had on your Grand Strand holiday getaway.

We hope you enjoy your Myrtle Beach retreat and that the adventure of completing our Holiday Hunt helps boost your holiday spirit. Make sure you post all your photos to Instagram with the tag @CompassCoveMB and on Facebook with the tag @CompassCoveResort ‪– and make sure to include #CompassCoveHolidayHunt  in your caption. Thanks for participating and for spending your holidays with us at Compass Cove Oceanfront Resort!
